Hang gliders
At first hang gliders were manufactured in many countries only by small artisans, or self constructors.
Later as hang gliding became more popular, companies starting manufacturing motorized hang-gliders (weight shift ultralights). They started with the production of reinforced wings for trikes powered by two stroke engines.
These microlight aircraft are popular because of
- simplicity of the construction
- the short area required for take off and landing
